Theme Updates

The Medical Professions and Teacher Preparation Academy had an amazing opening day. The theme for the day was GO RED for Healthy Hearts. The day began with a lesson and dissection of a heart. We had visitors from the American Heart Association who provided students with an overview of the organization and kicked off our Jump Rope for Heart Event which will take place in February. The Windsor Ambulance Services provided “ambulance tours” and our physical education teachers developed active stations where students practiced taking their heart rate, participated in stress reduction activities and took part in heart strengthening activities. Student ambassadors led an assembly for their peers where they presented clubs offered at MPTPA and conducted a “How to be successful” workshop.

On September 15^th we held a very successful and well attended open house. Parents had the opportunity to tour the school and talk to staff and teachers. Student ambassadors greeted and guided families throughout the building.

Upcoming Events:

On September 29^th we will be hosting a meet & greet night. Parents will have the opportunity to talk with both the principal and assistant principal and meet other families.

October is filled with many exciting activities. We will kick off Breast Cancer Awareness Month with “GIT your pink on!” Everyone will wear pink. Students will listen to a panel of breast cancer survivors who will share their story. At the end of the month a special assembly will be held for MPTPA girls-From Diagnosis to Treatment- physicians will “walk” students through the medical process of a breast cancer patient.

Our second family night will be held on October 20^th. Families will use their sleuth and science skills to uncover a secret mystery. Led by student scientists, families will actively participate to solve a crime.
